Used to detect the presence of residual air in small pre-vacuum steam sterilisers operating at 135°C for 3.5 minutes. The card changes colour from purple to green when exposed to a steam sterilisation cycle with acceptable vacuum cycles. Instructions for use: The Bowie Dick Test is conducted every day, before the first processed load of the steriliser to test the steriliser’s air removal system. Place one piece of the Green Card horizontally towards the front of the steriliser rack or cart, near the door and over the drain, in an empty chamber. Run a test cycle for 3.5 to 4.0 minutes. After the cycle has ended, check to see that the colour on the BD card has changed from purple to green. Test failures may indicate air leaks and inadequate air removals of the steriliser.
